It happened to me one year ago. It was christmas time too. It wasn't snowing in Belgium at all, so, I decided to go to the country where I could ski and build a snowman, to Bulgaria! Like I did when I was a child. Because of high Christmas flight tickets prices I took a bus from Antwerp to Serbia. ( Then I wanted to take a train to Sofia).
iOn the bus I met girl who I was talking to all my trip till Budapest. Everything was going well till the bus was crossing the border between Serbia and Hungary. The fronties guard glanced at me and at my pasport... A few minutes later he sais I can't go into Serbia because I haven't got a visa. The bus went away and I was walking from the border to the nearest town. I had just 3 problems:
First of all, it was almost Christmas, s all the shops and other things were closed. Secondly, it was really cold. I wasn't ready for frost like that. And finally, it was around 4 a.p. when I departed from the border... So, it was a terrible situation.
I said to myself: "Aleks, everything will be OK, don't worry. You've to walk around 7 km and there, you'll have take a warm train back to Belgium or somewhere else".
Suddenly, I met a few dogs and they were barking at me. I became frightened of them!
Fortunately, they didn't bite me and I arrived in a small town. There, I tried to buy a train ticket to Budapest, but it was impossible. The Hongarians use other money, not Euro, so, I was just standing on the street and asking some money people who were walkingnext to me. Finally, I could get some money and I bought a sandwich and a bus ticket to Budapest.
All my way to Budapest I was thinking about my plans for unexpected holidays in Hongary. When I arrived in Budapest I found the exchenge office and changed some money. I bouth some food and happily went do some sightseeing.
The city welcomed me. It was good weather and it was snowing a lot.
I was taking some pctures when I met a guy. His name was Alfred and he helped me. He showed me around the city and we had lunch together. That isn't all. I spent 2 nights at his place for free. I couldn't believe that anybody could be so friendly to strange people.
It was my terrible holiday. However, I enjoyed my stay in Hungary very much and made one good friend.
